The player-driven story

The way you approach The Outer Worlds is up to you. Your choices will affect the game’s branching story, your character, and the end game scenarios.

Lead your group

During your journey, you will meet many non-player characters -Armed with unique abilities and special attacks – who want to join your crew. These companions act as an aid in combat but they also have their own personal missions, stories, motivations, and ideals. When exploring, the player can bring up to two companions alongside them, while the rest stay on the ship.

– Create your own character and unlock a ship in the early stages. The spaceship is a way of fast traveling to different areas in the game and also the player’s inventory. (But you can’t control the ship)

Weapons

Use various weapon types such as melee and firearms in combats in The Outer Worlds. These weapons can be customized to add elemental damage. Players can also use stealth or social skills (persuasion) to avoid combat in the first place.

– Gain experience points as you play the game to level up and unlock new skills for yourself and your companions. Develop your technical skills in Science, Medical, and Engineering categories. Unlock new perks for combat efficiency enhancement.

Setting

“the game is about when megacorporations have begun colonizing and terraforming alien planets. Originally bound for the furthest reaches of the galaxy, a colony ship’s faster-than-light travel goes astray, leaving it abandoned at the edge of colony space. The player character awakens on board from cryosleep only to find that most of the passengers are still in hibernation, and begins a journey to a nearby colony to investigate the true nature of the corporations. The game features several factions and a branching story that reacts to the player’s choices”

“Halcyon is a colony at the edge of the galaxy. It belongs to a corporate board. They control everything… except for the alien monsters left behind when the terraforming of the colony’s two planets didn’t exactly go according to plan. Find your ship, build your crew, and explore the settlements, space stations, and other intriguing locations throughout Halcyon”
