Audacity is a Free, open source, cross-platform audio software or in other words it’s an easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X and other operating systems. It’s Developed by a group of volunteers and it’s an open source program. Audacity can record live audio through a microphone or mixer or recordings from other media. You can import, edit, and combine sound files, and export your recordings in many different file formats ( WAV, AIF, MP3, AAC, FLAC, OGG etc … ), including multiple files at once. Audacity Supports 16-bit, 24-bit and 32-bit.
Formats and sample rates are converted using high-quality resampling and dithering. It also supports plugins like LADSPA, LV2, Nyquist, VST and Audio Unit effect plugins. Nyquist effects can be easily modified in a text editor or you can even write your own plugin.
Working with this program is easy and beginners can easily Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete or merge multiple audio files. Also unlimited sequential Undo and redo in the session to go back any number of steps that you want.
